math is discourse, math doesn't have tenses it can't live history or individual experience

where does love live if math is discourse? rhythm?

can math be art? is math the art in art? in music, painting?

its non-utility at the point of creation allows for the rigorous checking on the discourse which makes possible its successful application elsewhere.

a tree in the garden. one tree not to eat from. the plums in the icebox. it's not math but it acts like math, since a tree is abstract, not this tree here. but a tree is more than a number, since it has aspects of every tree we have ever seen. it's a pattern, a way of representing a similarity, a groove, a rhythm of perception. i see a this-thing, i tell my son it's a this-thing, we see many this-things and we debate about whether they are trees or other things, or trees AND other things.

it must be different from math
